When I joined the football pool at my old office, back in 2003, I (knowing nothing about football) thought the Tampa Buccaneers would win the Super Bowl, playing the Oakland Raiders, and I was right enough to walk away with the entire pot of $324! My feeling was that anyone playing on their home turf has an advantage, and I think both the Bucs and the Raiders had that home field advantage early on in the season.
This year, NFL season starts on Thursday, September 6, 2007, and I know some of you are getting excited with opening week preparations, and of course you're checking out the NFL network.
While a search on "football women" typically turns up stories of football wives (or "football widows"), we here at SistersinBiz.com salute all involved in the pursuit of their passion for the sport. Football has been one of the ingredients for racial integration in our country, so as a woman of color, I'm also glad that the fans, players, coaches, and owners reward skill and determination as the best markers for success. The 1969 Kansas City Chiefs were the first team to have an even mix of African American and white players: and they won the Super Bowl in 1970!
The NFL also realizes that women are big business, and they know that women buy the bulk of their products and control the family's viewing habits.
