I've been using computers since I was nine years old, and in fact I remember coding my first BASIC program (this was approximately the same time as the dinosaurs).
Since then, I've predominantly used PCs, but I switched to a Mac at the behest of my husband, and since then I've never looked back. I recall always having problems with e-mail viruses, DLLs, software versions, and the dreaded blue screen of death. Since I've switched (I know I sound like a commercial), I have had very few of those problems, and I've had great success with the different applications that come standard with my machine, like iPhoto, iMovie, and the iTunes and mail program.
On my Facebook account, I've been asking my friends if they use a Mac vs. a PC and I have mostly positive responses to the Mac. What's your machine and how comfortable are you on it?
Because I'm in web design and development, we do have PCs to check but we typically do all our work (coding, design, photos) on the Macs. I bring this up because the Macworld Conference & Expo 2008 is taking place in San Francisco, CA, from Jan 14-18, 2008. Steve Jobs will give the keynote speech on Jan 15.
Last yea'rs announcement about the iPhone, which quickly became a major consumer favorite, gave all Mac fans yet another thing to be proud of. What's in store for this year?
Because I own stock in the company and I use the products, I'm definitely biased, but I'm proud of Jobs for appointing the first woman and Asian-American to the board this past week, and I think that, regardless of the outcome from the Expo, Apple will continue to come up with innovative, creative products that expand our 21st century opportunities. I can't wait to see what's next.
