Pelosi plans the following in her first 100-hour agenda as a legislator: raise the minimum wage, cut the interest rate on student loans by half, negotiate for lower drug prices in the Medicare prescription-drug program, and pass all the independent 9/11 commission recommendations.
I applaud Pelosi for living up to her message of diversity: she's appointed the following representatives to top positions:
- Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D) of Ohio: the first African- American woman to serve on the Ways and Means Committee
- Rep. Hilda Solis (D) of California: the first Latina on the Energy and Commerce Committee
- Rep. Linda Sanchez (D) of California: the first Latina to serve on the Judiciary Committee.
Congratulations Ladies! Thanks for clearing the path for women of color to rise to leadership in political positions and as representatives for we, the people.

Women in politics succeed in making their voices heard more and more and this is a very good thing. They seem to be more diplomatic, even if not so strong as men.
