
Poon attended Northwestern University and received a bachelor's in biology in 1973; three years later she was awarded an M.S. M.S. in Biology and Biochemistry from St. Louis University. She received an M.B.A. in Finance from Boston University in 1982. After spending fifteen years with Bristol-Myers Squibbs, with her last position as President of International Medicines, she came to Johnson & Johnson in November 2000.
She was honored as 2004 Healthcare Businesswomen's Association Woman of the Year and is on the board of directors at the Philadelphia-based Fox Chace Cancer Center.
