The program certifies environmental performance and educates business owners on green business practices.
From the website:
"To be certified "green," participants must be in compliance with all regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste."
We've had two visitors from the County of Alameda office to help us with appliances, kitchen and restroom efficiency, and green sources for inkjets, paper, and other office supplies. One other visitor will be arriving from the East Bay Municipal Utility District to help us increase our water conservation.
If your county or region has a green business certification program, I highly recommend you apply.

Hello all,
we just shot a show on green business development in Berkeley, CA. The Berkeley Sustainable Business Council is busy assisting restaurants in the downtown area interested in joining the Bay Area Green Business Program.
They've chosen to focus on restaurants due to their relatively large eco-footprint. Compared to offices and other 'clean' businesses, restaurants consume considerably more energy and water, and produce substantially more pollution and waste.
We visited a couple restaurants that have signed on with the program, including Venus, which transports its produce from nearby farmer's markets using an electric cart.
If interested in seeing the show, go to www. freshtopia. net, and watch episode #0030
All the best,
oscar
