I started my business in my living room. I got my basic idea and then developed it continuously. I wanted to develop a special training program for executives for whom English is their second language, so I thought about my own experience living and working with American companies with my limited English and the fact that I had succeeded. This became my program.
As you may be aware, Advanced Global Connections (AGC) provide three distinct but related services.
foreign Fortune 500 companies who want to improve the effectiveness of their managers and executives in doing business with the USA. They send their managers and executives over in groups and we deliver a whole program designed to get them over any lack of confidence in dealing with the US business world.
Number 2. We offer the reverse process. We will take managers and executives of US Fortune 500 companies over to Korea, China or Japan and introduce them to those cultures with a view to improving their skills in doing business over there.
Number 3. We deliver consultancy and training programs to companies in the USA, large and small, to help them make the most out of a multicultural workforce.
I am also in demand as a motivational speaker and deliver lectures on the subject of motivating multicultural workforces and doing business internationally.
I always want to give back to society. Recognized as a minority business advocate by US Department of Commerce, I work and motivate minorities for whom English is a second language, women and young business entrepreneurs. I want to put back into society more than I got out of it.
3) Who do you consider to be a role model?
My mother taught me how to think positively and how to challenge myself. She taught me to be different, to raise my standards and how to have fun and enjoy life. She said if you want to catch the tiger, go to the cave to meet the tiger. So I did.
4) Name one of your biggest challenges and how you learned from that
situation.
My biggest challenge has been to motivate myself and never to think backwards. How to motivate myself and energize and challenge myself. Business comes to you if you are ready.
Another big challenge has been, since I work with Fortune 500 companies, how to present and brand myself. I feel it is challenge but not insurmountable. The answer is to find the right way to go, inventory your skills and your ability and address any weak areas.
5) When was your most successful moment to date?
The moment that I could quit my executive job and start my own business. When I had the idea to train Asian Fortune 500 company executives and was able to go ahead with my plan.
