#1 Golden Guide to Success: The Golden Rule
All the major religions have some version of this rule, which is basic to life, to being human, and to our mutual success. When you get down to the basics: treat others like you want to be treated yourself. Everything else is just "commentary," as the Talmud says. Some samples:
Confucianism
Tse-kung asked, 'Is there one word that can serve as a principle of conduct for life?' Confucius replied, 'It is the word 'shu' -- reciprocity. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.'"
Buddhism
"Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful."
Islam
"No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself."
Hinduism
"One should not behave towards others in a way which is disagreeable to oneself."
Christianity
"Do onto others as you would wish them do onto you."
Judaism
"What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man [or woman]. This is the law: all the rest is commentary."
