About SistersinBiz.com
Greetings to all, and welcome to the first Know More Media blog devoted solely to women of color in business!

African-Americans, Arab Americans, Asian Pacific Islanders, Latinas, and Native
Americans face unique challenges in the workplace as entrepreneurs and as business owners: I envision SistersinBiz.com to be an online community where we can address the following:
monica_140-1.jpg
  -  getting and staying inspired
  -  developing mentoring relationships and finding role models
  -  professional conduct,
  -  understanding tax and making tax laws work for you
  -  improving business operations
  -  marketing and PR for women-owned businesses
  -  and general news and views and current events

This blog is devoted to you. Have a question, comment, or issue you want to air? Contact me through the comments box below. Who am I?

I'm a Filipina business owner and entrepreneur based in Oakland, California. Since graduating from Cornell University in 1994, I've been involved in a variety of industries and have worked in technology, education, healthcare, retail, and strategic consulting. I have a young son and live with my husband in West Oakland.

Some of my favorite past lives have included being a worldwide journalist for an educational website, interviewing figures like Rigoberta Menchu and travelling to places like sub-Saharan Africa and Iran, as well as developing software for blind people, working as a web programmer during the dot-com "gold rush" in San Francisco, and being a health worker in Los Angeles as a fulltime volunteer.

My current company is a marketing consultancy. We offer a coaching and strategic analysis service for leaders in mid-sized businesses, and we also offer web and print design to membership organizations, non-profits, and small businesses.

I also do a lot of informal mentoring of young women of color who are interested in business and leadership. I find that many women are seeking role models, leaders, and access to information and resources: I hope to provide some of those through this blog.

My mission in life is to empower, educate, and connect women of color, and this blog is a part of my personal and professional desire to "give back"  to all who have helped me succeed.

Hi, Ms Flores.

Greetings from the Philippines.

I read that you are into health care.
Well, even if you were not...
we ought to care for our health. Ha, ha.
I shall spare you the issues concerning this.
Besides, it is all over the Internet and the news.

What is not though is what I am writing you about.
My husband, Ludwig, is an organic rice farmer

Monica, Inspiration is what it is all about in business. Motivation plays a big part as well. We all need this to get out of bed in the morning as business owners.
